Hello, my name is Kara Geraerts
I am the owner of Rennelier: a slow fashion corset brand founded in 2020. Rennelier is short for Renaissance Atelier, an era I am inspired by for its beautiful and rich woven fabrics and sculptural garments. Influenced by the historical silhouette of the stays and focussing on craftmanship I experiment with its translation to fit modern life. Each piece is designed and handmade with love in the Netherlands.
Rennelier greatly values sustainability.
Majority of the corsets are fully made from recycled fabrics. I spend a lot of time searching for the most beautiful, unique and quality fabrics in thrift shops and online marketplaces.
My garments are for example made of antique tapestries, skirts, jackets, curtains, table runners, trousers and pillow covers. Recycling challenges my creativity. I see making a corset as an experience; it gives me excitement to create that one special piece.
